A senior creative specializing in photography, Ryan has 15+ years of experience creating award-winning imagery for iconic brands across platforms. Known for his dedicated work ethic, strong art direction, and big laugh, he has led countless teams through the creative process - from ideation and production to on-set creative direction and post-production. A graduate of the photography program at Bard College, his work is informed by a deep appreciation for the history of the medium and a working technical understanding of photographic processes.
Ryan was most recently photo director at Martha Stewart Living, where he art directed features and covers for this legendary title and oversaw the daily operations of the photo department.
Prior to Living, Ryan oversaw visuals for the Off Duty section of The Wall Street Journal across platforms, focusing on fashion, travel, tech, and home/décor. He has held similar roles at Life, Real Simple, and Money magazines.
His work has been recognized by the Society of Publication Designers, the Society of News Design and the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation. He is regularly invited to be a reviewer at portfolio reviews.
Ryan currently serves on the boards of the Society of Publication Design, the Bard College Alumni/ae Association, and the Dessoff Choirs, where he is also a singing member.
